Portishead has major suburban energy for me. Portishead is very nice it is quiet but that's a reason to like it, it's a easy cruise into Bristol centre complete opposite to living in Bristol area. Some of it is too densely populated for my liking, mostly around the marina and village quarter where all the new development is but that's personal taste.

Portishead is a nice place but I would check out the commute to Bristol. Traffic queuing up to J19 starts around 7ish and traffic leaving the motorway in the evening rush hour is also bad.
